Scenes: Los Alamos Lacrosse Against Rio Rancho

For the U10 team, they won 2 games and lost 2 games and lost the tie breaker with Rio Rancho to play Durango in the Championship game. The team was lead by attackers, Tyler Jones, Colton Key, Nathan Duffield. The midfield was led by Gavin DeRoma, Cailyn Bingham, Aiden Alley, and Desmond Powers; while the defense shut down opposing offenses led by Presley Haight, Steven Romero, Django Salas, and superb play from our goalie Matthew Haight. In a great show of sportsmanship, the U12 team split up and helped the U14 team and the U12 team from El Paso. BOSTON – With the high altitude, steep rolling hills and strong running community, Los Alamos makes the perfect place to train for endurance competitions. That’s certainly the case for local runner Lindsey Montoya, who finished the 2018 Boston Marathon presented by John Hancock in a time of 3:22.17.

LAHS Hires Head Girls Varsity Coach Lanse Carter

LAHS SPORTS News:

The Los Alamos High School Athletic Department announces that Lanse Carter has been named Head Coach of the Girls Basketball Program. 

Since 2003, Coach Carter has had stints at Capital, Pojoaque, Santa Fe Indian School and Santa Fe High School. During his tenure at Pojoaque High School, he won two state championships.

Prior to his head coaching positions he also served as an assistant coach at Adams State and Western State in Colorado.

ALBUQUERQUE – The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys’ golf team claimed the district 2-5A championship hosted by Albuquerque Academy Monday afternoon at the Tanoan Country Club.
 
The Hilltoppers were able to post low scores from multiple players, something Los Alamos has struggled with during the spring portion of the season.

  • Sanna Sevanto with a 15 second difference as well as the first place female in the 3 mile distance with a 23:55; and

ALBUQUERQUE  The public is invited to a free event April 28 to support the 2018 National Veterans Golden Age Games (NVGAG).  
 
Doors open at 9 a.m., April 28 for the family-oriented, fundraising event that runs until 3 p.m. at the New Mexico Veterans’ Memorial, located at 1100 Louisiana Blvd. SE in Albuquerque.
 
There will be NVGAG registration booths for anyone wishing to sign up as volunteers or sponsors. Entertainment will include a car show, vendor booths, live music, dancing, food, clowns, face painting, balloons and much more.

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Activities Association announces its third and final Officials’ Appreciation Week of 2017-18 season to honor and recognize the men and women who serve as interscholastic sports officials in the state of New Mexico.

The NMAA has promoted one Officials’ Appreciation Week for each of its competitive seasons:

  • Fall sports were honored Oct. 30 through Nov. 3 for football, soccer and volleyball;
