Anyone new to Los Alamos, or with a student attending one of the Los Alamos Public Schools for the first time, is invited to attend the New Family Orientation noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 in the gymnasium Aspen Elementary School.

LANL Donates Working FERMIAC Replica To Bradbury

People can see the original 1947 FERMIAC at the supercomputing exhibit at the Bradbury Science Museum, but it’s safely behind glass. Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Office of Experimental Sciences has donated a replica of the FERMIAC – a mechanical device for tracing out neutron transport paths on a table-top blueprint – to the Bradbury Science Museum. The science behind galaxy formation has remained a puzzle for decades, but a University of Arizona-led team of scientists is one step closer to finding answers thanks to supercomputer simulations.

ALBUQUERQUE ― A two-phase earn-while-you-learn Welding Boot Camp and Apprenticeship Program in Farmington has been implemented with 20 individuals successfully completing the first five weeks.

This summer’s Youth Helping Refugee Youth (YHRY) drive to collect supplemental school-related items was a wonderful success! A huge thank you to all the youth and adults who contributed in some way to the effort!

Donations included 160 new pairs of teen boy socks, 216 new pairs of teen girl socks, 92 twin-packs of antiperspirant deodorant, 89 new earbuds, and 22 Walmart gift cards ($25 each, for use in purchasing class-specific items).
