LA Garden Club Announces 2020 Scholarship Winner

The Los Alamos Garden Club (LAGC) announces today that Kathryn Laintz is the recipient of its 2020 scholarship.

Laintz is a Los Alamos High School graduating senior and is planning to focus on environmental science in her university studies. Future possible career plans include being a hydrologist, a freshwater ecologist, an agricultural scientist or a botanist.

While the Los Alamos Teen Center, operated by The Family YMCA under a contract with Los Alamos County, is temporarily closed, its staff members have created a new website and an online space where Teen Center staff and teen members can interact via text and voice.

SANTA FE — Public Education Secretary Ryan Stewart hosted a virtual conference call with members of the media 10-11 a.m. today.

SANTA FE – New Mexico public education will shift to a learn-at-home model as schools remain closed for the rest of the academic year, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and state education and child care officials announced today.​

Early Childhood Education Department Offers Guidance To Child Care Providers Amidst ‘Stay At Home’ Order

STATE News:

SANTA FE — New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Secretary Elizabeth Groginsky commented Monday on Gov. Lujan Grisham’s “stay at home” order.

The order, which goes into effect at 8 a.m. today, March 24, requires all non-essential businesses to close and limit activities for New Mexicans outside of their homes. The goal of the order is to limit the spread of COVID-19.

LANL Foundation Awards $741,000 In Scholarships

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation, in partnership with the Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF), has awarded $741,000 during its 2020 four-year scholarship cycle.

These scholarships will support the educational goals of 110 Northern New Mexico students.

State Boards & Commissions Division Suspends Requirement For Continuing Education Due To COVID-19

STATE News:

SANTA FE — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department’s Boards and Commissions Division is suspending the requirement for proof of continuing education for those who have licensure expiration dates through July 31, 2020.

Once the restrictions have been lifted, licensees will have specified period of time to submit their continuing education credits to their applicable board.
