LAPS: May Is Mental Health Month
LAPS News:
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), one in five Americans live with a mental illness.
In an effort to raise awareness about mental illness and educate the public on ways to help, NAMI has launched a “You are Not Alone” campaign during the month of May as part of Mental Health month.
Los Alamos Public Schools is supporting this campaign by providing resources and awareness.

SANTA FE — MANA del Norte is accepting scholarship applications for the 2020-21 academic year.
Applicants must be a current or former resident of one of the following six northern New Mexico counties: Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, San Miguel or Taos.

Three of the 9 finalists in the 2020 Supercomputing Challenge held virtually April 28 were from Los Alamos High school.
Twenty New Mexico schools participated including two from Los Alamos, 36 teams competed including five from Los Alamos, 27 awards were presented, and nine scholarships were awarded.

Jennifer Necker, a 2017 Los Alamos High School graduate, is the recipient of a merit-based 2020-21 Jean Boswell P.E.O. state scholarship for college junior and senior women.
In a statewide, exceptionally competitive field, the selection committee in its notification letter wrote that Necker is an “extraordinary candidate”.

State Of New Mexico Feeding Thousands Of Children, Seniors, Tribal Members During COVID-19 Pandemic
STATE News:
SANTA FE – State government agencies have delivered more than 5.4 million meals to children and youth, more than 293,000 meals to seniors and, separately, more than 400,000 pounds of food items to those communities most in need throughout New Mexico since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the initial issuance of “stay at home” directives.
The state has also increased the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) enrollments and benefits to families and has implemented innovative, collaborative efforts to deliver meals to tribal communities across the state. Read More
