Los Alamos Middle School (LAMS) will be celebrating Pi Day (3/14) this year with a little help from Pirates of the Caribbean and a lot of help from the community.
Pi Day (3/14) is a highlight on the middle school calendar. Traditionally, the LAMS PTO with the middle school staff hosts a daylong event for students surrounding the concept of π. The goal of Pi Day is to promote math literacy and the concept of Pi in a fun, hands-on learning environment.

Meeting For LAMS 8th Graders Attending Annual Spring Break In Washington D.C. Trip

There will be a meeting for this year’s 8th grade students who are attending the annual spring break trip to Washington, D.C.
The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 1, after school in the Los Alamos Middle School library (the MC). There will be an additional meeting at 3 p.m. March 22. Parents are encouraged to attend both meetings.
It is not too late to sign up for this year’s trip but time is running out!

FORT STANTON — Black troopers known as Buffalo Soldiers from Fort Stanton played a key role in the transition of New Mexico from a territory into a state. In recognition of the site’s significance to Black History, the National Park Service recently added the Fort Stanton Historic Site to its Reconstruction Era National Historic Network.
The site joins 107 listings across 28 states that highlight Black stories from the last half of the nineteenth century.

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) encourages students and families to join in celebrating the LAPS transportation staff on National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day Thursday, Feb. 22.
LAPS currently employs 15 route drivers and four assistants providing coverage for all bus routes in the district. The district also has eight substitute bus drivers and one substitute bus assistant.
