Senators Udall, Capito, Heinrich Announce Measure To Build And Strengthen America’s Caregiving Workforce

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-N.M.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) introduced a bipartisan amendment to build and strengthen America’s caregiving workforce.
 
The amendment to the fiscal year 2019 Defense-Labor, Health and Human Services appropriations minibus would dedicate $5 million in grants to place volunteers in communities to care for seniors and individuals with disabilities and help them remain independent, also known as the “Care Corps” program.

Some readers asked why police did not activate an Amber Alert when a 10-year-old boy went missing Wednesday in White Rock.

Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone explained that there are strict rules governing the use of an Amber Alert (activation criteria).

Governor Announces Crackdown On Parents Failing To Pay Child Support

SANTA FE Monday, Gov. Susana Martinez announced a crackdown on parents failing to pay child support. The annual child support bench warrant operation will run through October 15. Martinez launched the Bench Warrant Project in 2011 to ensure that deadbeat parents fulfill their obligation to pay child support.

FBI: Former NM Taxation And Revenue Employee Gets 46 Months For Federal Extortion Conviction

ALBUQUERQUE – U.S. District Judge Martha Vazquez sentenced Larry Mendoza, a former Revenue Agent of the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department, to 46 months of imprisonment for his conviction on Hobbs Act extortion charges in federal court today in Santa Fe. 

Mendoza will be on supervised release for three years after completing his prison sentence. Judge Vazquez also ordered Mendoza to pay $43,380 in restitution.
