New Mexico History Museum Seeks Zozobra Objects

The New Mexico History Museum (NMHM) is offering two more drop-in opportunities for New Mexicans to share their Zozobra memories and mementos.

The tradition of Zozobra turns 100 this August and NMHM is telling this 10-decade story. The Museum wants to see the community’s favorite Zozobra memories to consider for inclusion in this exhibition.

Elephant Butte Lake State Park Set For $1 Million Upgrade

SANTA FE — The State Parks Division of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) is embarking on a $1 million project to upgrade comfort stations at Elephant Butte Lake State Park.

The project, to be completed in stages, will begin April 1, 2024, and is anticipated to continue through August of 2024. It will entail demolishing an antiquated comfort station at the park’s main entrance and completely renovating two campground comfort stations.

FBI: Mescalero Man Sentenced For 2022 Assault

ALBUQUERQUE — A federal judge has handed down a 9-year prison sentence to a Mescalero man after he pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury in a case stemming from a brutal attack on the Mescalero Apache reservation in 2022.

Upon his release from prison, Dennett Jerome Chee, 37, a member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, will be subject to three years of supervised release.
