HU Alumna Receives UK Scholarship For Film Study

Las Vegas, N.M. – Shanea Strachan, a New Mexico Highlands University media arts and technology alumna, received a United Kingdom Chevening Scholarship to enroll at Bournemouth University in Dorset, England to pursue a master’s degree in producing film and television.
The British High Commission Nassau awarded Strachan, a Freeport, Grand Bahama native, the scholarship. She is the only Bahamian to receive the honor this year.

$4500 REWARD: Two Horses Shot, One Killed In Mora County

Mora County — Between June 13 and June 14, 2020, two horses were shot in the Monte Aplanado area of Mora County.
Joseph, an Appaloosa gelding, died in the immediate area of the shooting. Stormy Patty, a Red Road mare, survived a nonleathal wound and is being treated. These horses were running in an area known as Laguna Alta, as they did regularly.
The New Mexico Livestock Board has no suspects and is investigating this as a case of felony animal cruelty.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Children, Youth & Families Department (CYFD) announced a new directive to help better support LGBTQIA+ youth in care.
The nondiscrimination policy is the most inclusive and robust the Department has followed to date.
