There was more good news this week for New Mexicans who enjoy the outdoors.

Most of New Mexico’s State Parks will be open for overnight camping beginning Oct. 1 after being closed to camping in March because of the coronavirus pandemic. Once more, we can enjoy an evening under the stars.

Camping will be limited to New Mexico residents only. Reservations are required and no more than 10 people in a group.

El Vado Lake, Pecos Canyon, Morphy Lake and Manzano Mountains State Parks will remain closed to overnight camping.

New Mexico’s Eight State-Run Museums Reopening Sept. 24

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) has announced that the state’s eight museums and seven of its historic sites will reopen to the public 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24.

These facilities, which closed March 16, may resume operation at 25 percent of normal capacity under the state’s Public Health Order.
