UNM-LA Invites Public To Screening Of PBS Point Of View Film On Diversity In The U.S. Monday

  • UNM-LA Begins Documentary Film Festival on Ethnic Diversity in the U.S.

UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) instructor Dr. Renae Mitchell will screen the PBS film “All the Difference” at noon Monday, March 19.

In conjunction with her class AMST 185: Intro to Race, Class and Ethnicity, Mitchell is screening three different PBS Point of View films; each provides an in-depth look at the lives of people outside of the stereotypical American norm. Local community members are invited to attend the screenings and are welcome to stay for class discussions after the films

Local Prayer Walk/Gun Turn-In Event Saturday

At the special Voices of Los Alamos meeting March 12, Pastor Steve Trout with the First United Methodist Church announced an upcoming prayer walk/gun turn-in event.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, March 24 at the First United Methodist Church at 715 Diamond Dr.

The guns will be collected by the nonprofit group New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence, which will destroy the firearms onsite.

LAHS Shows Solidarity To Florida High School

Students and staff, Los Alamos Public School administrators, community members and organizations such as the League of Women Voters participated in a school walkout this morning at Los Alamos High School. The walkout was to show solidarity to the shooting that left 17 people dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., and to voice support for ending violence in schools.

Luján Notes Los Alamos County Again Named Healthiest County In New Mexico According To New Rankings

Washington, D.C. – Los Alamos County ranks healthiest in New Mexico, according to the 2018 County Health Rankings, released by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

Aspen Elementary School Spring Fling Carnival Friday

The community is invited to Aspen Elementary School's Annual Spring Fling Carnival, which is slated for 4:30-7:30 p.m., Friday.
