A request for approval of a fence height waiver to place a 6-ft high chain link fence within the required 25-ft front setback at 2403 Club Road, North Community No. 2, Lot 1, in an R-1-8 (Single Family Residential) zone.

Neither arrests nor charges indicate a conviction, and neither means that a person is guilty of the charges filed against them.

Aug. 4 at 1:27 p.m. / A 28-year-old Los Alamos woman reported that she was the victim of criminal trespass.

Aug. 4 at 11:10 p.m. / Police arrested Donaven Vanwijkweijer, 18, of Los Alamos in the 1400 block of 40th Street and charged him with criminal trespass, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Betty the Bullfrog Attracts New Parents

ROTARY News:

Betty the bullfrog charmed members of the Rotary Club of Los Alamos so much that the Club has adopted the portly beauty for an entire year beginning Nov. 1. Betty lives at the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) and is big and round, with a dark colored back and a creamy colored belly. She likes to hide underwater as well as float along the surface. Betty sometimes comes out of the water to bask under a warm lamp. She dines on earthworms, crickets and pinky mice. Courtesy photo

Udall Co-Hosts 57th New Mexico Water Conference

U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., will co-host the 57th Annual New Mexico Water Conference Aug. 28 in Las Cruces.
 
The daylong event, also co-hosted by New Mexico State University President Barbara Couture, will take place at the Corbett Center on the NMSU campus.
 
The conference is put on by the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI) and is titled, “Hard Choices: Adapting Policy and Management to Water Scarcity.”
 
“Water is crucial to our economy and to our way of life,” said Udall.

There should never be a time, but particularly now, that Americans should be forced to “Suffer Fools” when it comes to the people who are being paid to serve us.

Yet that is exactly what’s taking place with some currently unidentified staff members in the Obama White House, and their apparently deliberate leaking of classified information for political purposes.

Gratefully, the outcry in Congress has been largely bipartisan ... Chairman of the House Select Committee on Intelligence Mike Rogers stated “somebody committed a crime against their country,” and Sen.

Appreciative Inquiry: Examples at Organizational Level

The critical first step of Appreciative Inquire (AI) lies in framing the initial question/inquiry.  Framing provides the foundation; it sets the tone; it signals the direction. 

Today, I will illustrate a couple of examples at the organizational level; next week, I will lay out two examples at the individual level.

The first organizational example is given in the book, “Appreciative Intelligence: Seeing the mighty oak in the acorn,” by Tojo Thatchenkery & Carol Metzker.

Sam Hagan Performs Wednesday at BESC

The Los Alamos Retired & Seniors Organization (LARSO) is hosting a wonderful lunch concert for seniors at noon Wednesday, Aug. 15 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

Sam Hagan, vocalist from Atlanta will be accompanied by Juantia Madland. 

They performed together last year and were quite a hit.  Sam is in town to attend the opera and offered to do a concert at the senior center. 

Sam Hagan, one of the Southeast's finest tenors, didn't actually plan to be a professional singer.
