SFCHA To Offer Residents Assistance On Jan. 24 With Los Alamos County Housing Choice Voucher Program

Christine Archuleta from the Santa Fe Civic Housing Authority (SFCHA) Española office will be in Los Alamos Wednesday, Jan. 24, to offer Los Alamos residents assistance with the Los Alamos County Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program (also known as Section 8).

Archuleta will accept walk-ins, 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 24, at the Los Alamos County Social Services office at 1183 Diamond Drive, Suite E. She advises that there may be extended wait times as she will meet with individuals on a first-come, first-served basis.

Mountain lions are usually tawny to light cinnamon in color with black-tipped ears and tail.

Adult cats can weigh 80 to 150 pounds and measure eight feet long, with the tail included.

Most active from dusk to dawn, lions eat deer; however, they also kill elk, porcupines, small mammals, livestock and other domestic animals.

Right Lane Turn Closure Thursday At N.M. 4/East Jemez

COUNTY News:

The free right-hand turn lane from East Jemez Road to N.M. 4 will be CLOSED Thursday, Jan. 18 so that crews can directionally bore a space for conduit to be installed at the median in the southeast corner of N.M. 4. It is anticipated this closure will only be needed for one day.

Eastbound traffic on East Jemez Road will be able to turn right to access southbound N.M. 4 at the traffic signal at the intersection of East Jemez Road and N.M. 4.

Traffic headed in this direction Jan. 18, 2024 should expect delays.

County: Annual Golf Passes Half Price For 2024 Season

COUNTY News:

Due to upcoming construction for the 2024 season, the Los Alamos County Golf Course will be offering its annual passes at a discounted rate.

Beginning Jan. 16, golf course pass sales will be open and available for customers to purchase at the Golf Shop, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Pass sales will not be available online or through phone transactions.

A group of passionate community members’ efforts paid off to make Los Alamos a Bee City USA affiliate; County Council unanimously approved 6-0 to adopt a resolution to support the Bee City certification during its regular meeting Tuesday night. Councilor Keith Lepsch was absent.
