WinterFest is a family-oriented holiday event that celebrates winter in Los Alamos and kicks off with the annual Creche Show noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the Los Alamos LDS Church, followed by a Los Alamos Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert at 7 p.m. at Crossroads Bible Church. Entry to both events is free. Stop by the Karen Wray Art Gallery and enjoy the Christmas in Los Alamos Open House anytime between noon and 5 p.m. Friday as well.

Saturday, Dec. 2, brings a full day of festivities starting with Breakfast with Santa hosted by the Kiwanis of Los Alamos. The breakfast begins at 7 a.m. at the Betty Ehart Center and the fun doesn’t stop until the 7 p.m. Tree Lighting at Ashley Pond Park.

Saturday’s WinterFest events include the 13th Annual Children’s Bazaar  9 a.m. to noon at Trinity on the Hill, the Annual Earth Treasure Show 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge, and a second chance to see the Creche Show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Los Alamos LDS Church.

Fuller Lodge is hosting a Holiday Open House 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, with a cookie walk and caroling. The community also has an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping at the Affordable Arts show 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. inside the Fuller Lodge Art Center.

Don’t forget to stop by CB FOX between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a chance to Spin The Wheel and get a coupon for more Christmas shopping savings while the kids get to talk with Santa anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Don’t miss the beautiful sounds of the holiday season when the Los Alamos High School’s Schola Cantorum sing 5-6 p.m. at the Los Alamos Municipal building during the Holiday Tree Lighting.

The highlight of WinterFest gets underway at 6 p.m., when the lights on Central Avenue and Ashley Pond go dark. The community will enjoy the Holiday Lights Parade as more than 30 local businesses and organizations show their Holiday spirit. This year’s theme is “Woodland Holiday” and celebrates the beautiful outdoors in Los Alamos during the winter time. The parade travels west from 4th street down Central Avenue. This event is hosted by Los Alamos MainStreet, is free to all participants, and would not be possible without the sponsorship and support from Los Alamos National Bank and Los Alamos County.

The day’s WinterFest events conclude as the community gathers at 7 p.m. at Ashley Pond Park for the beautiful annual tree lighting.

The community can wrap up its Saturday evening with a Madrigal Feast hosted by the Los Alamos Choirs Schola Cantorum and Bel Canto at 7:30 p.m. in the LAHS “Black Box” Theater. Tickets are $45 and are available at Fuller Lodge Arts Center or Village Arts. Proceeds support scholarships.

Sunday, Dec. 3, offers another chance to enjoy the Annual Earth Treasure Show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, and a Celtic Christmas Show starting at 1:30 p.m. at Fuller Lodge.
