LANL News:

Deputy Chancellor Dr. David E. Daniel of the UT-System and Associate Dean Dr. John Ekerdt for Research, Cockrell School of Engineering, will make a presentation entitled, “A Vision for LANL & UT”, Friday, Jan. 26 at Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos.

The local association of alumni of The University of Texas, The Santa Fe Chapter of The Texas Exes, is hosting the event. The public is invited for light hors doeuvres and drinks at 4:30 p.m., before the presentation, which begin at 5 p.m.

The speakers will entertain questions following their presentation. Dr. Daniel was president of UT Dallas before taking his position as deputy chancellor of the UT-System. He is a renowned civil engineer, a widely published and cited scholar, and an experienced administrator.

Dr. Ekerdt holds the Dick Rothwell Endowed Chair in Chemical Engineering at UT Austin. He also is a widely published and cited scholar. His research focuses on surface, growth and materials chemistry of metal, dielectric, and ferroelectric thin films and nanostructures.

The local chapter of the Texas Exes is excited by the possibility of UT being awarded the contract to manage LANL. They anticipate both an interesting presentation of UT’s vision of what such an award would mean for LANL, UT, and their communities, and also a lively question and answer session.
