UNM-LA Offers Entrepreneurs Free Training Sessions

Community members are invited to UNM-Los Alamos for free entrepreneurial training sessions offered by The New Mexico Rainforest University Center.
 
Monday, the second lecture of the spring 2019 University Center Seminar series will be live-streamed 10-11 a.m. in room 626 on the UNM-LA campus.

Sandra Begay will address “How to Generate a Business Idea,” including brainstorming, identifying opportunities, and validating a business idea using market research. She will discuss how to begin planning using the business model canvas, a strategic management and lean startup template for documenting business models. Wednesday, mentor Susan Cornelius will be at UNM-LA in room 214 to meet with community members who are interested in starting or growing a business. She has 30 years of experience in start-ups, mergers and acquisitions, and has coached more than 70 companies, including start-ups. Cornelius will serve as a connection point for resources related to entrepreneurial endeavors or training.
 
The spring 2019 University Center Seminar series, offered by STC.UNM and the Innovation Academy, is free and open to the public via in-person or web access. The series of free seminars focuses on the basics for starting a business, generating a business idea, conducting market analysis, understanding design thinking and financing.
 
The New Mexico Rainforest University Center is a government-funded program providing entrepreneurial training and technical assistance to individuals or small businesses. The training is oriented toward e-commerce, designed to assist any business with its digital presence.
 
A certificate program in entrepreneurial capabilities is available to community members through UNM’s Innovation Academy for those who register for seven of the 12 seminars.
