You might have noticed something is a little different this fall. The traditional yellow, orange and reds have given way to muted tones of white, green, gray and shades of burgundy.

You will see it everywhere from the front porch, to the buffet table or entry table, living rooms and outdoor patio. The patio isn’t always the first place you think of for adding autumn touches but it is always a fun spot to play a bit and create fun seasonal styling.

Today I am sharing a few tips for creating an inspired spot inside and outside your home.

Textures
Add textures. Like baskets full of hydrangeas & eucalyptus, chunky knits and nubby woven pillows.

Twinkle Lights
Play up the charm with twinkle lights, candles and shimmering trees for adding that moody drama and charm.

Softness
Just because autumn is full of rich vibrant colors - doesn’t mean you can’t incorporate your signature look and style. For me - that means adding a touch of softness with blush pillows, heirloom pumpkins in muted tones and flowers on the side table.

Copper
Copper tumblers for beverages, copper painted pumpkins and a copper fire pit bring a warm rich autumn feeling to an otherwise mostly neutral setting.

Cozy Seating
Play up the cozy with a traditional classic seating group and then add your own signature style with throw pillows and throw blankets.

Pumpkins
What would fall be without pumpkins? So many ways to decorate with pumpkins. Add wheat, dried hydrangeas, apples, colorful leaves and anything else that says ‘Welcome autumn’ to add a seasonal touch.

Front Porch
Use tall corn stalks, raffia, or straw to wrap around entry porch columns and mailboxes. Fall wreaths bring creativity, beauty and fun to your front door, fireplace, or feature wall. Apples, leaves, mini pumpkins, gourds, berries and cornhusks - so much available at your fingertips. A simple arrangement of pumpkins around a lantern adds a stylish, seasonal touch to an entryway.

Window Boxes
There’s no need to put away the window boxes for the season. Fill them with gourds, small pumpkins, dried wheat stalks, and hardy green plants like decorative cabbage and kale.

Details and Layers
Basically, when decorating any space - indoors or outdoors - think of the space in layers. Each one adds something to the overall. An outdoor spot to retreat to starts with a sofa, chair and table made of beautiful teak wood. Add pillows and layer on chunky throws. A copper fire pit adds a bit of ambiance. Rattan baskets are perfect for tucking some seasonal floral and greens into. String lights. They are perfect for adding a warm backdrop and bit of twinkle and color where you might not have any.

I personally just like subtle hints of fall décor – simply and elegant. I hope I have inspired a little fall ambiance for your home. Happy decorating!
