STAFF REPORT

With only 273 votes cast so far in the 2015 School Board election, candidates gathered today in front of the Municipal Building in an effort to encourage the community to get out and vote Tuesday for this important election.

Vote Centers will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Municipal Building and at White Rock Fire Station 3 for the Los Alamos Board of Education and UNM-LA Advisory Board races. Los Alamos County registered voters may vote at either vote center no matter where they live.

School Board candidates include:

  • District 3 - William (Bill) Hargraves, NancyAnn (Nan) Holmes and Sheryl Nichols;
  • District 4 - Andrea Cunningham and Michael Fassbender; and
  • District 5 - Jennifer McCumber who is running unopposed after School Board President Judy Bjarke-McKenzie withdrew from the race, although not in time for her name to be removed from the ballot.

UNM-LA Advisory Board candidates include:

  • Position 3 - Michael D. DiRosa, Troy Hughes and James Nealy Robinson; and
  • Position 4 - Stephen Boerigter, current UNM-LA board member running unopposed.

Beginning at 8 p.m., Tuesday, election results will be streamed live from Council Chambers.
