PINON PARK POOL News:

Pinon Park Pool is ready for swimmers to jump in and start the 2017 swim season this Saturday, May 27, at 104 Bryce Ave., in White Rock.

Pool Manager and lifeguard, Jeremy Goettee reports, “The water looks fantastic. It’s going to be an awesome swim season this year. The new pool pump installed in 2016 is producing crystal-clear water.”

Pool members held a work party over the weekend to complete final tasks in preparation for a fun-filled summer. The pool’s slides, kids play area, lounges and picnic tables were set up for use this coming weekend.

A staff orientation was held Saturday with Red-Cross certified lifeguards and other pool staff looking forward to Opening Day.

“Staff will be working hard to create a memorable summer for patrons and ensure that Pinon Park Pool continues to be the best place to swim, play, and relax this summe,r Goettee said.

Pinon Park Pool features two slides, a diving board, lap swimming, kids’ play area, tables and grills for picnics, snack bar, shaded lounge areas and kiddie pool, pool toys, floats, and life vests, and offers swim lessons.

The pool is known for its quiet, relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and celebrated its 50th anniversary in White Rock last year.

“Several long-time Pinon Park Pool members have shared with me how their kids, or themselves as kids, would spend all day at the pool Board member,” Leeann Foster said. “In the early days of the pool, the moms would play bridge while their kids swam. I also spent a lot of time playing in a pool as a child. It’s fun exercise and sure beats sitting around all summer playing computer games.”

According to Foster, who is the pool’s membership chair, memberships are still available for 2017, and membership information and forms are available on the pool’s website.

With four options based on number of family members on the membership, the cost to swim for the summer ranges from only $300 for an individual to $450 for a family of four or more.

Pinon Park Pool is inviting the public to swim for free as its guests June 4-5 and July 9-10, providing an opportunity to try the pool before purchasing a membership.

The pool is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Opening Day hours are 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday.
