SANTA FE The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Cabinet Secretary Jackie Lindsey has been appointed to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Advisory Committee (NAC), the state emergency preparedness agency announced Friday.
The NAC is an advisory committee established by federal law to ensure effective and ongoing coordination of federal emergency management activities. The NAC advises the FEMA Administrator through recommendations on all aspects of emergency management. For example, in 2019, the NAC examined building financial preparedness, in order to structure building resilient infrastructure in communities, as well as how to help close the insurance gap.
The NAC consists of 35 members, a diverse cross-section of officials, emergency managers and emergency responders from state, local, tribal and territorial governments and non-governmental organizations across the country.
“I am extremely proud of Secretary Lindsey’s appointment to FEMA’s National Advisory Council,” said Tony Robinson, the Region 6 regional administrator of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. “She is a valued state partner who brings a breadth of diverse experience from the fire service and border-state knowledge to this critical advisory board. I commend her efforts to help FEMA and the emergency management profession as a whole.”
