The Nutcracker Ballet in the Land of Enchantment brings the beloved holiday classic to life in the late 1800s in territorial New Mexico, with many surprises including Spanish and flamenco dancers, dancing southwestern snakes, sheep and shepherdesses, hummingbirds, a lively fandango, and a storyteller doll with children.
Traditional favorites such as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Snowflakes, and Flowers are also preserved in all their splendor, while beautiful sets, lavish western Victorian-era costumes in the first-act Party, and amazing pyrotechnics in the Battle light up the stage in this spectacular production. Resplendent in tradition, The Nutcracker Ballet in the Land of Enchantment is uniquely flavored with New Mexico heritage while maintaining the classical grace of its origins-the perfect holiday treat for the whole family!
In addition, La Fonda del Bosque, the new restaurant on the NHCC campus, will be open for lunch or dinner before each performance. On Friday, Dec. 16, and and Saturday, Dec. 17, the restaurant will be open for dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday Dec. 16, and Sunday, Dec. 17, it will be open for lunch from 11:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
