VLA News:

Voices of Los Alamos will host a special meeting with speaker Francisco Figueroa, No Labels NM State Director, who will discuss how we can reshape American politics.

The talk is 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. March 12, at the Unitarian Church, 1738 N. Sage Loop, in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The public is welcome to attend.

Founded in 2010, No Labels (www.nolabels.org) is a bi-partisan citizens’ movement that believes in creating a stabilizing force within Congress that brings our country together despite differences of ideologies. They want to achieve this by having a group of “elected officials who combine ideological independence and common sense with a willingness to reach across the aisle to get things done.”

“No Labels respects conservatives, liberals, and anyone in between who has a sincere desire to address the nation’s problems,” Figueroa said. “We support a diversity of viewpoints — one of America’s strengths.” On March 12, Figueroa’s presentation will focus on the movement’s history and political goals.

Figueroa served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force space program. After his military service, Figueroa worked with entities such as Sandia National Laboratories, Martin Marietta, and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Currently, Figueroa is a small business owner providing consulting services to corporations and delivering financial and business services to individuals and companies.

Voices of Los Alamos is a non-partisan, progressive advocacy group created as a way for Los Alamos residents to voice their concerns over the current political events (both at the state and at the federal levels). We strive to build community, educate, discuss, and enact action plans, with a focus on the following issues: social justice, women’s rights, human rights, education, environment, health care, gun safety, election reform.

This is a special session hosted by Voices of Los Alamos. The Voices monthly meeting is the fourth Monday of each month; the next regular meeting is 6:30 p.m. March 26.
