Los Alamos native Samantha D’Anna has worked as a professional photographer for four years but as of Thursday,  she now runs her business from a newly opened studio space.

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for D’Anna Thursday night at the studio at 2101 Trinity Dr., Suite S. The studio is across from the Los Alamos Public School Administration Building.

D’Anna said she started to take an interest in photography in high school. “I took a photography class my senior year in high school and I loved it and I just stuck with it in college.”

D’Anna’s work includes weddings and portraits. She said she loves to take photographs of people outdoors. The natural landscapes offer a great backdrop for a family photo, D’Anna said.

Looking at her new space, D’Anna said it felt good to take the next step for her business. She explained before moving in, the public school district used the space for storage. She and a number of helpers including her father, Joe, put in a lot of time and work to give the unit its sleek, contemporary look.

“I’m really excited about the next steps. I’m really appreciative of my local clients,” D'Anna said.

Los Alamos Chamber Of Commerce Director Ryn Herrmann commented, “We are so delighted to have Samantha in the downtown district. She’s a great addition and we wish her all the best.”
