Patrick Sullivan, executive director of Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation earned the designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), a national recognition that denotes a mastery of skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

The CEcD exam was administered by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Jan. 27-28 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Los Alamos-based coworking space, projectY cowork Los Alamos, has partnered with Albuquerque entrepreneurial accelerator program ABQid to launch a new eight-week program to assist individuals who are starting a business in Northern New Mexico.
The projectY Lean Startup Bootcamp, hosted by projectY cowork in Los Alamos and facilitated by ABQid, is free for up to 10 participants thanks to funding provided through a Los Alamos National Laboratory Major Subcontractors Consortium Economic Development Industry Cluster Grant.

Bill To Boost Small Business Passes House

SANTA FE – Rep. Doreen Gallegos’ (D-Las Cruces) bill to boost small business passed Saturday the New Mexico House.

House Bill 79 would promote small, local businesses by making Small Business Saturday tax free at small businesses in New Mexico.

“We know that 68 cents of every dollar spent in a small business stays in the community. This bill encourages economic growth in our communities and supports our mom and pop shops. We have to do all we can to ensure that our small businesses can thrive,” Rep. Gallegos said.
