New Mexico Dance Theater (NMDT), directed by Susan Baker-Dillingham, presents it’s eighth annual spring recital, “The Sky’s the Limit,” this weekend. “Spring recitals are a chance for each student to shine and perform for their families and friends,” said Baker-Dillingham. “We usually have a theme for our recitals, but this year I wanted to give the faculty free reign in choosing a theme for each of their classes; hence, the sky was the limit.”

Hasbrouck Wins Bandelier Photo Contest
Richard T. Hasbrouck of Truchas won first place in the 2013 Bandelier Annual Pass Photo and Art competition. His winning photo was among 96 entries submitted by 33 photographers and artists from across the United States and exhibited at Fuller Lodge recently. Hasbrouck, a retired electrical engineer from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, won an annual park pass, a copy of the award-winning movie Sky Island, narrated by Meryl Streep and N. The J. Robert Oppenheimer Memorial Committee (JROMC) will present an exhibit of historic photos entitled “J. Robert Oppenheimer: Photographs From His Life: 1904 – 1967” at the Mesa Public Library Gallery, 2400 Central Ave. from May 2 to May 30. The public is encouraged to visit the exhibit.

Joan Logghe brings her two-year stint as Santa Fe Poet Laureate to a close with a very special exhibition, “Odes and Offerings,” at the Santa Fe Community Gallery.
Local artists were paired with local poets and the artists chose part of the text of the poem to include in their piece.
All the pieces were created specifically for this show.
Thirty-six works of art and 36 poems are included.

On Thursday, the library will screen writer/director Kar Wei Wong’s “Chungking Express,” a nineties movie that feels like a nineties movie. Having “come of age” in the nineties, I mean that as a compliment. I like flannel shirts mixed with impressionistic psychotic love.
