The Pig + Fig Café will remain open in its regular location in the plaza at 35 Rover Blvd. while the new and improved location at 11 Sherwood Blvd., undergoes renovations. 

Pig + Fig Café co-owners Laura and Fernando Crucet signed a lease to move into the building that was formerly home to the Bandelier Grill.

Enjoy a morning of fun! The annual Breakfast with Santa, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos and Del Norte Credit Union, is 7-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

The breakfast is free. In return, attendees are requested to donate either non-perishable food items or money. Food collected will be used by LA Cares to feed local families in need. Money donated will be used for the Kiwanis/CYFD Foster Children Christmas party.

A few years ago my daughter’s in-laws from Brooklyn, NY came to Memphis for Thanksgiving.
 
To give them a taste of Southern cuisine, I decided to fry a turkey in addition to my conventionally roasted turkey. In effect, we had a taste panel where our 20 guests got to try both a roasted and fried turkey. There was no question that the fried turkey tasted better. It was more savory and had a richer flavor. It gave new meaning to the saying: “anything fried tastes better."

Bandelier Concession Closed Until March

The retail and food and beverage concession operation at Bandelier National Monument will close beginning today and is expected to reopen in March 2018.

There is no other food and beverage option at the monument. Other park services, including the trails and Visitor Center, remain open as scheduled.

ALBUQUERQUE The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) has announced that La Fonda del Bosque restaurant is now open 9-11:30 a.m. for pastries and coffee and 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch, Tuesday through Saturday in the NHCC History and Literary Arts Building at 1701 4th Street SW in Albuquerque.
 
The restaurant is owned and operated by Stefani Mangrum, chef and owner of City Treats Catering & Parties.

Many locals know that delicious lunches are served at both the Betty Ehart and White Rock senior centers every weekday, but fewer folks know that those same meals can be delivered hot and ready to eat to the homes of seniors who may not be able to cook for themselves.

Sometimes, a senior has been hospitalized or sustained an injury or illness that has them feeling weak, unable to stand at the stove or just not feeling like eating.

High school and college students of Los Alamos consider this one of the best places to go to for lunch, since their location is convenient and their prices are affordable.
