With the new snow, and holidays coming up, the rangers at Bandelier are hoping people will come and enjoy the park.

"Winter days can be beautiful in Bandelier," Park Superintendent Jason Lott said. "Over the holidays, with everyone looking for places to go with family and friends, we hope they'll come on down."

The shuttle buses have ended until next March, so visitors can now drive directly to the Visitor Center area. The Visitor Center, bookstore, gift shop and snack bar are open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., seven days a week and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the canyon area.

The hastily generated design created by PW (Public Works) in January was done without serious critiquing, endorsed by the Transportation Board under questionable circumstances, and approved quickly by the Council as it “needed to rush this through urgently to insure funding,” even as some of us indicated that it would not meet LOS.

SANTA FE – Experts on the Santa Fe Trail, women of the West, Clyde Tingley, “St. Kate’s” and the Manhattan Project will deliver lectures in the first half of the 2013 Brainpower & Brownbags Lecture Series.

SANTA FE - The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is prepared for the arctic front that’s scheduled to hit New Mexico on Sunday. 

The biggest impact is expected to be seen in NMDOT District 4, headquartered in Las Vegas, which encompasses the northeast corner of the state.

Approximately 80 dump trucks with snowplows and salt and cinder spreaders in District 4 are loaded and ready to go. All patrol crews that could be impacted have been preparing for the storm, readying vehicles and receiving briefings on both weather and expected roadway conditions.
