The state of New Mexico updated today the COVID-19 map with county risk designations applicable for the two-week period Dec 16-Dec 29. New Mexico’s ‘Red to Green’ framework consists of two gating criteria: (1) Average daily cases below 8 per 100,000 residents, and (2) test positivity rate below 5 percent. The ‘Red to Green’ has three risk designations: (a) RED, none of the gating criteria are met, (b) YELLOW, one gating criteria met, (c) GREEN, both gating criteria are met. Los Alamos County, with average daily cases of 26 per 100,000 people and test positivity of 7 percent remains in the RED. SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health announced today the updated statewide COVID-19 map for the two-week period beginning today, Dec. 16, with all 33 counties at the Red Level.
Twenty-seven counties, however, improved in at least one of the two health gating criteria metrics, and 23 improved in both metrics, underscoring an improving COVID-19 outlook across the state.

Libraries Provide Activity Bags To Grade School Patrons

LIBRARY News:
Los Alamos County Library System hosted pop-up libraries outside the main building in Los Alamos and the branch in White Rock. Grade school patrons could get a free December activity bag.
Library staff also upgraded temporary library cards and made new library cards.
Questions about current or future library services may be emailed to libweb@lacnm.us. Library phones are staffed 2-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Environment Department COVID Watchlist Update: Dec. 13
The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) has updated its daily Rapid Response COVID-19 Watchlist, which includes New Mexico places of employment that had two or more rapid responses in the last 14 days.
There are 139 establishments on the Watchlist.
The current Rapid Response COVID-19 Watchlist and closure list, which includes all establishments that have been required to close, are posted here.

Ice Hockey Open To New Players; Registration Fee Waived!

Los Alamos Hockey Association (LAHA) is happy to inform the community that the ice rink will be open this season solely for the purpose of hockey.
As an added bonus, LAHA will waive all registration fees this year – that means that hockey will be free for all skaters this season after the USA Hockey registration fee is paid.
