County Announces April Budget Hearings And Format

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County has published its proposed biennial budget. Information has been included based on current spending, revenue forecasts and Council direction.

Citizens are encouraged to access the document on the Finance Office/Budget page of the County’s website here.

Reference copies will be available in the Municipal Building lobby by 5 p.m. March 31.

A “Citizen’s Guide to the Budget” summarizes the budget in an easy-to-read format and is available here.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials today announced 148 new COVID-19 cases.

Haley was adopted from the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter Thursday by Phillip Ortega, his wife Norma Covington (recently hired librarian – not pictured) and their 6-year-old daughter Idris. The Covington/Ortega family moved to Los Alamos 6 months ago for Covington’s position at the library. They have a 15-year-old dachshund that is looking forward to Haley joining the family. GM Emulsion Begins Asphalt And Concrete Repairs On Various Streets Throughout Los Alamos County

COUNTY News:

Under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU), GM Emulsion will begin repairs to emergency utility asphalt and concrete cuts that occurred during the winter.

Crews will rotate to various locations throughout the Los Alamos and White Rock neighborhoods beginning as soon as today, March 29, and continuing throughout the month of April. Some minor traffic delays are expected.

Traffic control equipment, such as signage, barrels and barricades will be erected around the work zones. Flagging operations may be deployed to assist with traffic flow.

2021 REGIONAL SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR News:

This year the science fairs are online rather than in-person posters and presentations. The 2021 Northeastern New Mexico Regional Science and Engineering Fair Results were held Saturday, March 27.

This is a regional event including Los Alamos and Taos schools among others. Top projects from all regions of New Mexico will meet later this year at the State science fair. Turnout this year was down from previous years, but the competition was healthy.
