P&Z To Consider Proposed Ordinance Permitting Mobile Food Vending Throughout Los Alamos County

Proposed ordinance 02-320 will be presented via Zoom at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, before the Los Alamos County Planning and Zoning Commission.

The ordinance was developed by the County’s Community Development Department (CDD) staff to support mobile food vending throughout Los Alamos County. Commissioners will vote whether to forward the ordinance May 24, to the County Council to be considered for adoption.

New Round Of Hazardous Branch Trimming Underway

A new round of hazardous branch trimming is underway in Los Alamos and White Rock.

Residents may see Southwest Fire Defense & Tree Services professionals throughout the county mitigating hazards and power outages by trimming tree branches growing around power lines.

Southwest Fire Defense & Tree Services is under contract with the Electric Distribution Division of the Department of Public Utilities. DP Road Temporary Lane Closures Today & Wednesday

COUNTY News:

Crews from Construction Survey Technologies, Inc. will be conducting exploratory potholing today and Wednesday to locate existing utilities at five locations along DP Road east of the Los Alamos County Fire department Training Center.

During each potholing activity, one traffic lane will be closed, and flaggers will direct traffic safely through the work area.

Motorists are asked to use caution and follow the signage and directions of the flaggers during this work.

This potholing work is in support of the DP Road Phase II Roadway and Infrastructure Project.

Representatives from the Los Alamos County Little League and Los Alamos County reported during Tuesday night’s Los Alamos County Council meeting that resolution is being reached regarding the County’s updated policy for renting recreational facilities.

Leisure Lagoon Opening Delayed

The opening of the Leisure Lagoon at the Los Alamos County Aquatic Center is postponed due to delays with the arrival of vital pool equipment.

Completion of the project is tentatively scheduled for late June to allow for shipment, delivery and installation of the remaining pieces of equipment required to complete the water system to fill and operate the pool.

Additionally, plastering of the pool itself can only be performed when the pool can be filled to facilitate curing of the plaster.

Mary Tapia Steps Into Role Of New Los Alamos County Human Resources Manager

As the new Human Resources Manager for Los Alamos County, Mary Tapia said she is hoping to show how much her department can be a positive resource.

Tapia officially started as the new Human Resources Manager March 21 and served as the Assistant Human Resources Manager since 2018. She takes over from Ty Ryburn who resigned earlier this year for another job opportunity.

Los Alamos property owners should receive a valuation notice from the Los Alamos County Assessor’s Office sometime this week.

Notices of Valuation (NOV) reflect the current ownership, legal description, applicable exemptions, and the valuation placed on the property. Upon receipt, property owners are encouraged to read and verify that all information is correct.
