2012 Los Alamos Senior Olympic Games Are Underway

The 2012 Los Alamos Senior Olympic Games began Friday at the Family YMCA with competition in basketball free-throw and the recreational event: Frisbee accuracy.
Abel Castillo (55-59 age division) qualified for the New Mexico State Games with a score of 10 out of 15 free-throws.
He also qualified in the 3-point shot competition.
His score was tops in the Frisbee Accuracy Throw earning 10 out of 12 possible

Atomic Tumblers Finish Strong at State Championships

Los Alamos School of Gymnastics’ three optional gymnasts gave a solid finish to their season at the New Mexico State Championships March 17, held at Sandia Prep in Albuquerque.

Forty-one of New Mexico's top Level 7 gymnasts competed in the morning session. 

LASG Level 8 gymnast Annika Bronkhorst finishes up a tumbling pass with a full twist layout, while coach Loui Janecky looks on.

Los Alamos Ranked Among Nation's Top Hunting and Fishing Spots

Los Alamos is ranked 28 among the "35 Best Hunting and Fishing Towns in the U.S.," according to OutdoorLife magazine.

The publication says about Los Alamos: "Stay close to home for walleyes, catfish, bass and trout, in waters like Abiqui Lake, Rio Chama and Rio Grande. The nearby Valles Caldera National Preserve runs a lottery program for monster elk."
