Springtime 2012: 50 Hikes in the Los Alamos Area

Many years ago, Frances Arnold, Carol Carlson and Maxine Ellis created a 50 Hikes trail list for friends who wanted to explore our beautiful mesas, canyons, and mountains. The Santa Fe National Forest later adopted the list as a convenience for visitors.

Despite subsequent publication of a number of hiking books for the area, the list still serves its purpose as a quick introduction to the east side of the Jemez Mountains. As years go by, changing conditions require that the list be revised periodically.

Montoya is Top Predictor in North Mesa Pace Race

Theresa Montoya was the top predictor with a 15 second differential in this past Tuesday night's pace race held out on North Mesa on the trail by Brewer Arena next to the horse stables. Other top predictors included Ted Romero at 17 seconds off, Tom Sandford coming in at 20 seconds from his stated time, and Bob Edgar having a 32 second difference.
Roy Cope was the fastest participant on the 1 mile course with a time of 11:44.  The top 1 mile female runner was Georgia Pedicini at 14:12.
