The six seed Lady Hilltoppers take on the third seed  Los Lunas's Lady Tigers this morning at 8am at Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho. The State Championchip is a double elimination tournament. Win or loss against Los Lunas, the Hilltopper's second game starts at 12 noon. Both games will be broadcast live on KRSN AM 1490 and online at http://www.krsnam1490.com.

Ted Romero was the best pace-race predictor in running the trails in Potrillo Canyon and to the Estante Overlook, being only 7 seconds off his prediction for the 3 miles.

All but the last of the 16 runners in the weekly Tuesday pace race finished before it started to rain, and the last runner finished just before it poured hard with hail!

In the 3 mile run the next best predictors after Ted Romero were family members Nathan (52 s off), Alexander, and Daniel (both 71 s off). Alexander and Daniel

Forest Hosts Public Field Trips Into Southwest Jemez Mountains Landscape Restoration Area

The Santa Fe National Forest is hosting three educational field trips into the Southwest Jemez Mountains Landscape Restoration project area.

These field trips are designed to provide on-the-ground information about the project. Participants will be guided through the area to see and learn about existing conditions, desired conditions, ecosystem function, treatments that have been accomplished, and engage in interactive conversation with Forest personnel about the project.

Bandelier Advising of Upcoming Closure May 22 or 23

Jason Lott, Superintendent of Bandelier National Monument, has announced that the main visitor area in Frijoles Canyon will be closed for at least part of the day on either Tuesday, May 22 or Wednesday, May 23. 

“We will be having very large pieces of equipment working in the canyon that day to install an interim crossing of the creek,” he said. “We are not certain yet which day, or at what time, this work will happen, but we want to minimize the impacts on our visitors.”

Chamber Golf Tournament to Benefit United Way

On Friday, May 11, the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is hosting a golf tournament to benefit the United Way of Northern New Mexico (serving Los Alamos and Rio Arriba counties).

The tournament will be a “shot gun start” at 1pm at the beautiful Black Mesa Golf Course. Black Mesa is ranked 4 nationally and are pleased to be able to invite the public.

You need not be a Chamber of Commerce member to play.
