Los Alamos’ Alex Kirk Signs With Anadolu Efes

Alex Kirk of Los Alamos has signed with Anadolu Efes Sports Club, a Turkish professional basketball team based in Istanbul, Turkey. He’ll be with the team Thursday in Barcelona, Spain.

Anadolu Efes is the most successful club in the history of the Turkish Basketball Super League, having won the league’s championship 13 times.

LACROSSE News:

Walk-in registration for youth and high school lacrosse teams is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 in the multipurpose room of the White Rock Branch Library, 10 Sherwood Blvd.

Students age 9 through high school seniors are welcome. Although there is currently not a separate girls’ program, girls are welcome to play in a coed environment.

The Los Alamos High School boys basketball team picked up two big victories last week that should help them when it’s time for the seedings for the Class 5A state basketball tournament. The Hilltoppers beat Class 5A rival Belen High School 52-49 Jan. 6 at Belen, avenging an earlier 44-33 loss to the Eagles Dec. 28 at the Poe Corn tournament in Roswell. One day later, Jan. 7, Los Alamos beat Class 6A Santa Fe High School 55-53 in overtime.
