Leonards Tie For Best Predictor In Weekly Pace Race

Zachary Leonard and his son Erik tied at 2 seconds off their predicted time in the weekly pace race held on the Burnt Mesa Trail in the Bandelier National Monument. 
 
Other accurate predictors were: 
  • David Kratzer with a 6 second differential;
  • William Strother a 9 seconds off;
  • Jesse Woodroffe recording a 11 second difference; and
  • Ryan Smeltzer at 17 seconds off.

LAHS Girls Golf Team Wins District Tournament!

The Los Alamos High School Girls Golf Team won the District 2-5A golf tournament Monday at Black Mesa Golf Course. The team shot a total score of 375, besting second place Albuquerque Academy by 68 strokes. Eighth grader Jessica Osden was the individual District Champion with a 90. Senior Liz Lockhart finished 2nd with a 91, freshman Leah Mountain finished 3rd shooting a 93 and 8th grader Muira Mowrer finished 5th with a 101. Gibson: Recreation Bond Is Not Justified

Like any tax increase, the “Recreation Bond” deserves careful scrutiny. A tax should be for a legitimate valuable public purpose. There should be reasonable expectation the funds will be well used. And there should be no other reasonable alternative to further burdening citizen taxpayers. The Public School and UNM-LA mill levies in January were among the rare tax proposals that satisfy these three criteria (link). This one does not.
