Department Of Homeland Security And Emergency Management Establishes Joint Information Task Force For New Mexico Fires

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham submitted a request today to President Joe Biden and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a Presidential Disaster Declaration for New Mexico as a result of widespread wildfire activity across the state.
Gov. Lujan Grisham has declared states of emergency under her authority in Colfax, Lincoln, Mora, Sandoval, San Miguel and Valencia counties due to wind-fueled wildfire activity.

Cerro Pelado Fire: The Cerro Pelado Fire, 7 miles east of Jemez Springs, started Friday, April 22, during an epic wind event. The cause of the fire is under investigation. It is burning in ponderosa pine and mixed conifer trees and brush. The east part of the fire is burning in the fire footprint from the 2011 Las Conchas Fire. Scam Alert: LARSO Warns Residents Of Phony Calls

The Betty Ehart Senior Center spoke to a resident who said that they received a call stating they owed the senior center money.

The local senior centers would NEVER call saying a member owes money.
