Since Jan. 30 when the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) started providing county-level vaccination data, I have been disappointed in the low per capita vaccination rate reported for the County ranking us at 31 of 33 counties in the per capita vaccination rate.
Council has since received numerous comments on this dashboard.

New Mexico State Parks Division: Eagle Nest And Fenton Lakes Closed To Ice Fishing Due To Deteriorating Conditions
New Mexico State Parks Division News:
New Mexico State Parks Division has announced that Eagle Nest Lake at Eagle Nest Lake State Park was closed to ice fishing Jan. 4 due to deteriorating ice conditions.
The surface of the lake is closed to all activities. For further information, call 575.377.1594.
The parks division also announced that Fenton Lake State Park closed Fenton Lake today to ice fishing due to deteriorating ice conditions.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced this afternoon 589 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County reports 4 new cases today bringing the total to 460 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update includes 23 more deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reports today’s most recent cases:
- 174 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 2 new cases in Catron County
- 24 new cases in Chaves County
- 7 new cases in Cibola County
- 1 new case in Colfax County
- 11 new cases in Curry County
- 1 new case in De Baca County
- 82 new cases

U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich’s Push For FEMA Cost Share Reimbursement Pays Off For New Mexico

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich’s (D-N.M.) request was granted by the Biden administration to retroactively reimburse state, local, Tribal and territorial governments for 100 percent rather than 75 percent of eligible emergency costs related to fighting COVID-19.
President Joe Biden directed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to increase the federal cost share in a memo signed this week.
