UNM-LA Community Education Welcomes Mike Katko

UNM-LA News:

UNM-Los Alamos announces Mike Katko as its new program coordinator for Community Education. In this position, Katko will arrange the Community Education schedule, including recruiting instructors for a variety of classes.

Katko is an educator and businessman with many years of experience. He has served at all levels of education in New Mexico public schools, from elementary and secondary level teacher to principal and principal mentor.

The Environmental Education Association of New Mexico (EEANM) bestowed its first Outstanding Environmental Education Organization Award on the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) of Los Alamos.

Military Order Of The World Wars Meets Nov. 21

This month’s meeting of the Military Order of the World Wars is Tuesday, Nov. 21. The speaker is Commander Brian Gauck, the new commander of the Los Alamos High School NJROTC unit. He will provide an overview of his research on friendships formed by USAFA graduates.
 
The meeting is at the Los Alamos Research Park in the 2nd floor conference room. The Los Alamos Research Park building is west of the fire station.
 
Parking is available east of the fire station (accessible from the southbound lane of the Los Alamos Canyon Bridge) or east of the Research Park building

On the job Thursday in Los Alamos is Marketing Specialist Diego Muñoz at Del Norte Credit Union at 40 Rover Blvd., in White Rock who has worked for the company since March. Muñoz is growing a mustache for ‘#Movember with DNCU’ to raise funds and awareness of men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and poor mental health. SFCC Hosts 28th Holiday Arts And Crafts Fair Dec. 9

Santa Fe Community College will host the 28th annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 in the college’s Main Hallway and Campus Center, 6401 Richards Ave. The event is free and there is plenty of free parking.
 
The popular community event features about 75 artists, who sell items ranging from fine art to regional handcrafted goods. The Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair gives students and local artists an opportunity to sell their work directly to the public.
 
Area residents enjoy the festive fair along with the opportunity to support regional
