PEEC News:

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) has a special planetarium show with Dr. Galen Gisler on asteroid threats at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 and will show the popular full-dome film Incoming at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8.

These shows reveal the realities about asteroid threats to Earth. The planetarium, inside the Los Alamos Nature Center, projects the night sky and specially-designed films on a 180-degree dome.

Dr. Galen Gisler will reveal the realities of asteroids: the close calls, current risk, and how we know what to expect. Bring questions and curiosity to this fascinating presentation that makes use of the full planetarium dome and lets the audience obtain new perspectives on asteroids and our wonderful planet.

Incoming!, a film that traces the paths of comets and asteroids, will play in the planetarium at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8. The film takes a close-up look at interstellar collisions that have impacted Earth—as well as those still pending!

The Los Alamos Nature Center will be open regular hours this month: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays as well as 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. The nature center is open late on Tuesdays, until 8 p.m., closed Thursdays for regular maintenance.
