Northern New Mexico College Establishes STEM Mentor Collective

The National Science Foundation has awarded $300,000 over two years to the Northern New Mexico STEM Mentor Collective.

The Northern New Mexico Citizens’ Advisory Board (NNMCAB) meets 1-5:15 p.m. Sept. 28, in the Ballroom of the Student Union Building at New Mexico Highlands University, 800 National Ave., in Las Vegas.
 
The NNMCAB is one of eight site-specific advisory boards established to involve local citizens in the Department of Energy’s (DOE) environmental clean-up decision process at its nuclear facilities. Albuquerque police arrested a Los Alamos man Sunday at the Albuquerque International Sunport after it was discovered that he possessed a suspicious device in his carry-on luggage.

Police charged Jeremy Danielson, 40, with one felony count of possessing a hoax bomb or explosive, a charge under the state’s criminal code that surrounds intentionally placing, giving or mailing any false bomb or explosive with the intent that any other person thinks it is real.
