WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Energy today announced the winners of $32 million in funding for 15 projects as part of the Breakthroughs Enabling THermonuclear-fusion Energy (BETHE) program.

Due To COVID-19, NNSA Adds 15 Days To Public Comment Period On Plutonium Pit Production At Los Alamos

In response to requests for additional time based on disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) has extended by 15 days the public comment period for the draft Supplement Analysis to the 2008 Site-wide Environmental Impact Statement (SWEIS) for Continued Operations of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

The document examines whether the environmental impacts associated with expanded plutonium pit production at LANL require preparation of a new or supplemental EIS for LANL.

LANL Employees Donate More Than $20,000 To Food Depot For Hunger Relief Across Northern New Mexico … Triad National Security Contributes Additional $10,000

SANTA FE—On the first day of their online food drive, Los Alamos National Laboratory employees donated $16,490 to The Food Depot in support of Northern New Mexicans facing hardship.

Triad National Security, LLC, the Laboratory’s M&O contractor, contributed an additional $10,000. With another $5,731 coming in from employees in subsequent days, the combined running total by Wednesday afternoon amounted to $32,221, which will provide more than 100,000 meals to those in need.
