FARMINGTON — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Farmington Field Office has released the proposed Chaco Area Withdrawal Environmental Assessment for a 30-day public review and comment period.
The environmental assessment analyzes impacts associated with withdrawing federal minerals from leasing in a ten-mile buffer surrounding Chaco Culture National Historical Park for 20 years.

Steam Might Be Visible From Los Alamos National Laboratory Nov. 14-17
Starting Monday, Nov. 14 through Thursday, Nov. 17, steam will be released intermittently from a building on Los Alamos National Laboratory property as part of the operational testing of two new steam boilers.
The operation is part of an upgrade project to provide more reliable and efficient heating steam to the Laboratory.
The steam will likely produce large steam clouds visible to those in and around Los Alamos County, and some might also be able to hear an intermittent loud noise associated with it. Only water vapor is being released and poses no risk to people or the environment. Read More

Los Alamos County Council will be issuing a Proclamation in honor of Los Alamos Garden Club’s (LAGC) 75th Anniversary at the Council Meeting Tuesday, Nov. 15 in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave.

SANTA FE — New building, same address! Surrounded by red rock canyons and cottonwoods, the new Jemez Ranger Station is located at 051 Woodsy Lane, the same scenic spot off NM Highway 4 in Jemez Springs. The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) celebrated the Jemez District’s new facilities with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday, Nov. 4.
The old facility was built in 1966 south of Soda Dam. By 2007, it was obsolete and showing its age.
