Driveway Temporarily Closed Near Fuller Lodge

The driveway from Bathtub Row to the front parking lot of Fuller Lodge will be closed April 12 and 13 for installation of a valley gutter.
 
The work is needed to help with drainage issues on the road, which experiences icy conditions each winter.
 
The road will close at 9 a.m. April 12 and should reopen by9 a.m. Saturday, April 14.
 
Lodge visitors are asked to park in the upper and lower parking lots just west of Bathtub Row during construction.
 
The work is part of a larger project starting on Monday for improvements to the grounds and exterior of Fuller

County Administrator Works to Fill Acting Positions

The process to fill acting positions at the director level throughout the County is well underway.

County Administrator Harry Burgess described the hring process during an interview at his office Thursday.

“I decided to advertise these positions and that did not reflect on the individuals currently holding the positions. I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to apply … there may be hidden talent,” Burgess said.

County Notice of Possible Council Quorum

Members of the Los Alamos County Council may attend interviews of candiates for county attorney from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 13 in Council Chambers.

A quorum may be present, however no council action will be taken.

Los Alamos County Tops State Health Rankings

Los Alamos County tops the list in county health rankings for New Mexico, according to the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program, a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

The County Health Rankings measure the health of nearly all counties in the nation and rank them within states.

The Rankings are compiled using county-level measures from a variety of national and state data sources.

New Mexico counties ranked one to 10:

  • Los Alamos
  • Sandoval
  • Santa Fe
  • Dona Ana
  • Lincoln
  • Union
  • Roosevelt
  • Otero
  • Bernalillo
  • Curry

White Rock Loses Power During Monday's Storm - Power Now Restored to Remaining Customers on Piedra Loop

Heavy snow accumulation on power lines during Monday evening’s storm caused a three-phase power pole to go down near the intersection of Piedra Drive and Piedra Loop in White Rock. Power was lost at 8:40 p.m.

Los Alamos Police Taking on Espanola Police

The public is invited to attend a battle between officers of the Los Alamos Police Department and officers of the Espanola Police Department.

This highly competitive, action-packed basketball game begins at 2 p.m. April 28 at Northern New Mexico College, 921 N. Paseo De Onate in Espanola.

Tickets are $3 per adult and $2 per child under 12 with all proceeds split between LAPD and EPD for the charity of their choice.
