Los Alamos Chief of Police Dino Sgambellone released calls for service and crime statistics for 2013, compiled by the Records Division of the Los Alamos Police Department.
Offenses reported as crime statistics are determined by the FBI Uniform Crime Report Program and are classified as crimes against persons (violent crime) and crimes against property. The offenses of murder (homicide), rape, robbery and assault make up the violent crime category. The offenses of arson, burglary, larceny, and auto theft make up the property crime category. Los Alamos Airport has launched a brief survey polling the public about their knowledge and use of the new commercial airline service, provided by New Mexico Airlines between Los Alamos Airport and Albuquerque’s Sunport.

Power Interrupted on Sioux, Cheyenne, Seminole Streets as Replacement Work Proceeds

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities officials reported a power outage affecting about 120 customers in North Mesa’s Tsikimu Village neighborhood beginning at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. Power was restored to all but six customers at 11:30 a.m. and to the remaining six at 12:10 p.m., the DPU said.

Council Approves Teen Center Funding
Melanie Borup, a longtime participant of the Los Alamos Teen Center, speaks of her experiences at the Center and thanks the County Council for all they do to help the community. Los Alamos County Council voted 7-0 to increase the total amount of the Family YMCA contract to operate the Los Alamos Teen Center July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014 not to exceed $194,155.
