20th Street And Trinity Drive Parking Lot Reopens

COUNTY News:

The 20th Street and Trinity Drive parking lot is now open.

The reconstruction of the parking lot was completed as part of the Los Alamos Teen Center remodel of the Community Building on 20th Street. Work in the parking lot included full depth reconstruction of the parking lot as well as a new layout.

Vehicular access to/from the new parking lot is at 20th Street. The United Stated Post Office mailboxes and UPS drop box temporarily relocated to Deacon Street during construction are back at the center of the 20th/Trinity parking lot.

Chair Mark Rayburn of the Fuller Lodge Historic Districts Advisory Board just announced that the Los Alamos Post Office has been officially placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

“I just received great news from Steven Moffson from the Santa Fe State Historic Preservation Office this morning, and also received the 33-page document making it official that the Los Alamos Post Office has been officially placed on the National Register of Historic Places,” Rayburn said.

Non-Potable Pipeline Project Begins On Arizona Street

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities’ contractor H.O. Construction, Inc., will commence work on Arizona Avenue this week as part of the Non-Potable Pipeline Project. 

Residents on Arizona should expect to see placement of traffic control devices as well as crews locating existing utilities through “pot-hole” excavation and utility locate paint in the public right of way. 

In the following weeks crews will begin trenching and placing pipe beginning at the east end of Arizona Avenue near Pajarito School and moving west. Some traffic delays may be expected.  Read More

Department of Public Utilities Business Operations Manager Karen Boutilier Kendall will begin her new position Monday as Budget and Performance Manager for Los Alamos County.

PRB Considers Rules For Dogs In County Parks At Meeting In Council Chambers 5:30 p.m. Thursday

COUNTY News:

The Parks and Recreation Board will consider adoption of proposed rules for dogs and county parks when they meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building. 

The draft rules were posted on the County’s “Open Forum” website and comments that were collected have been given to the Board to review as part of their discussions next week.
