DPLAC To Hold Monthly Meeting Monday Sept. 8
DPLAC News:
The Democratic Party of Los Alamos County (DPLAC) will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 Monday, Sept. 8, with open discussion starting around 7 p.m. for about 30 minutes.

Senior Activity Centers To Close On Labor Day

LARSO News:
The Betty Ehart Senior Activity Center in Los Alamos and the White Rock Senior Activity Center will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, for Labor Day and staff development.
All regular activities and congregate meal services will be canceled for the day. Home Delivered Meal recipients will receive a frozen meal in advance of the closure. The Senior Activity Centers will re-open Tuesday, Sept. 2.

State Police Checkpoints And Saturation Patrols In Counties Across New Mexico In September 2025
Statewide – New Mexico State Police (NMSP) will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols; and registration, insurance, and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during September 2025.
NMSP is bringing awareness to these events to reduce impaired driving-related fatalities through continued media attention and intensive advertising.
These checkpoints are helping to change society’s attitude about driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.

County: Feeding Wildlife Vs. Seasonal Foraging
COUNTY News:
Feeding wildlife is very different than allowing wildlife to forage for seasonal, natural foods, and is almost always detrimental to the animals, the environment, and human safety.
Dangers of feeding wildlife
- Health problems for animals range seasonally to adapt to different foods. Feeding nutrient-dense food during winter, for instance, can disrupt these changes and sicken the animal.
- Behavioral changes
- Loss of natural foraging skills: Animals that become dependent on human food handouts may lose the skills needed to find food on their own, making it harder for them
County Government Offices To Close Monday, Sept. 1, In Observance Of Labor Day
COUNTY News:
In observance of Labor Day, some Los Alamos County government offices and services will close or have modified hours on Monday, Sept. 1.
The County’s administrative offices, Atomic City Transit fixed bus routes, and the Environmental Services division are closed on Monday.
In addition, the following facilities will close or have modified hours:
- Camp May Road – Open for Labor Day weekend from 7 p.m. Thursday to 7 p.m. Monday
- White Rock and Mesa libraries – Closed
- Aquatic Center – Closed
- Los Alamos County Ice Rink – Closed
- Golf Course and Golf Shop – Closed, including
County Begins Pavement Marking Work

COUNTY News:
San Bar Construction Corp crews working under contract with Los Alamos County has begun work on refreshing turn lane, bike lane, stop bars and crosswalk pavement markings at various intersections in Los Alamos Townsite.
The process includes grinding out the old pavement markings before placing the new. This work will generally occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday–Thursday. Work may extend to 9 p.m. on some days and also occur on Fridays to minimize impacts to traffic during busy traffic periods. Work is scheduled to continue through Sept. 19, weather permitting.
