On Tuesday, I got the privilege to once again participate in the selection of a new member for the Board of Public Utilities.
Although I was not selected I wanted to personally thank Chair Izraelevitz, Vice-Chair O’Leary, Councilor Chrobocinski, Councilor Sheehey, Councilor Reiss, Councilor Chandler, and Councilor Maggiore for their kind words and tough questions.

Community Invited To Cheer On Special Olympics Athletes And Police In Torch Run Thursday
SPORTS News:
The community is invited to cheer on Special Olympics Los Alamos athletes and Los Alamos Police Department personnel as they head out towards the Jemez Thursday morning on the Law Enforcement Torch Run, according to local organizer LAPD Cdr. Oliver Morris.
Participants will leave the Justice Center at approximately 7:30 a.m. and head west on Trinity Drive and onto West Jemez Road and the members of the public can show their support along the way. Park Rangers from Bandelier National Monument will join the run this year.

Los Alamos Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Dog That Attacked Another Dog At Rover Park Sunday

LAPD News:
The Los Alamos Police Department is asking the public for assistance in identifying the owners of a dog that attacked another dog last weekend.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. Sunday at Rover Park. The suspect dog was described as possibly a male “cane corso” or a very similar looking mastiff type dog, black in color and weighing about 100 pounds.

Community Invited To Chat With Two Councilors At Los Alamos Farmers Market 9-11 a.m. Thursday
COUNTY News:
Two members of the Los Alamos County Council will host a booth 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the Farmer’s Market.
This is an informal setting open to residents who would like to stop by with comments, concerns or questions. Voter Information Booklets for the upcoming May 23 Recreation Bond Election will be available at the booth.
Other Council-hosted booth dates include:
- June 15;
- July 20;
- Sept. 14; and
- Oct. 19.

Former Los Alamos County Council Candidate Patrick Brenner sent a strongly worded email today to all seven sitting councilors. The Los Alamos Daily Post received a copy of the email and spoke with Brenner by telephone in an effort to understand what spurred him to send such an email. Following a lengthy conversation in which it remains unclear why he sent the email, Brenner requested that he be quoted in regard to the email as saying, “I stand by every word I said.”
