The annual Fair and Rodeo Queen’s Court competition is Saturday, April 13.

The Queen’s Competition is a long-standing Los Alamos County tradition which selects young ladies with an equestrian background and people skills to represent Los Alamos County all summer in promoting the Los Alamos County Fair and Rodeo locally and regionally.

Interested candidates must be a Los Alamos County resident, or attend the Los Alamos Public Schools, and must be between the ages of 10 and 25 by Sept. 1, 2019.

The Los Alamos Visitor Center is now open at its new location, 475 20th St., Suite A, on the north side of the Community Building next to the Teen Center. An official ribbon cutting will be scheduled at a later date.

After passing a flat budget in FY2019 and preparing to do the same for FY2020, Los Alamos County received a pleasant surprise: Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed SB 11, which states prime contractors operating a laboratory facility in New Mexico are indeed subject to gross receipt taxes (GRT).

Traffic Alert: Utility Work On Rover Saturday April 6

Traffic Alert:

Weather permitting, water crews with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities will replace a section of water line on Rover Boulevard between N.M. 4 and Meadow Lane.

Work is scheduled for one day only beginning at 8 a.m. and wrapping up by 7 p.m. Saturday, April 6.

Traffic control devices will be erected on the east side of the road and will block the south driveway for Del Norte Credit Union.
