LAURA MARGARET HILL Aug. 19, 1947 Aug. 27, 2017

Laura Margaret Hill, age 70, passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2017. Laura is survived by her life partner John Brannon, her sister Jamia Hill, her two nephews Don and Andrew and her numerous kitties, which she loved and adored.

Her parents were Boyce and Margaret Hill, and she was born in Los Angeles California on August 10, 1947. Laura preferred her name to be pronounced “Lara” and she shared her kind and beautiful gifts with the various communities in which she lived.

Before Lara graduated from University High School in West Los Angeles in 1965, she was an exchange student in England where she was able to experience the up and coming Beatles Band and she held their music in her heart all of her life. Lara received a Master’s Degree in the Eastern Classics from Saint John’s College in Santa Fe where she lived for many years and she loved Zen Practice, Buddism, the teachings of C.C. Zain, Taoism and singing Christian Hymns. Lara sang with the Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble for many years as well.

In addition, Lara spent many years living in the community of Jemez Springs, New Mexico, where her gifts of tarot reading, astrology, hair cutting, massage, house sitting and pot luck dinner attendance will be sorely missed.

In the last years of her life, Lara faithfully and lovingly assisted John with their wood working company, Masterworks In Wood, LLC, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Lara loved beautiful woods, nature, her beloved friends, which are numerous, her kitties, paleontology, her Johnny and a host of other interests and fascinations, and her kindness and gentleness are renouned in all of the world by everyone who knew her.

There will be a life celebration service 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Presbyterian Church in the Village of Jemez Springs, followed by a potluck dinner. There will also be another service on October 15th in Albuquerque at the Church of Light Headquarters, 2119 Gold Ave SE, at 1 pm preceded by a potluck brunch. Everyone is welcome.
