Obituary: Charles R. ‘Chuck’ Mansfield Oct. 6, 2017

Dr. Charles R. “Chuck” Mansfield, 79, passed away October 6, 2017.
 
From 1958 to 1969, he worked as a Siskiyou Smoke Jumper in the Northwest during the summers while attending college. After graduating, he received a post-doctorate position at NASA in Houston, Texas.
 
In 1973 he moved to Los Alamos and worked as a Physicist with LANL for many years before becoming the founding President of the Laboratory Retiree Group since 1994.
 
Chuck had many other interests in life including being an avid pilot, astronomy, a former president of the local geology club, woodworking, photography, hiking and exploring the great outdoors.
 
Chuck is survived by his wife Arlene Fay Mansfield (Hoover), his son Dave, his sister Melinda Vaughan, cousins Keith Davis and Lynn Makin, brother-in-law Chuck Hoover, sister-in-law Ardene Robin, and many nephews and nieces. His great sense of humor, integrity, honesty and enthusiasm for life will be missed by all who knew him. 
 
A celebration of his life will be held at Fuller Lodge on November 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
