N.M. 4 at White Rock 'Y' Now Open
Police have reopened N.M. 4 near the White Rock “Y” following today's two-car crash in which a Los Alamos teenage boy died.
Both drivers and a passenger were transported to Los Alamos Medical Center with injuries, according to police.
Los Alamos Deputy Police Chief Randy Foster told the Los Alamos Daily Post this afternoon that a small four-door sedan collided head on with a red Toyota pickup near the sweeping turn just west of the White Rock "Y" on N.M. 4.
Foster said the pickup rolled over and it is not clear at this time if the other car did as well. However, both vehicles ended up off the embankment.
"For these vehicles to hit head on one of them had to have crossed the double yellow line on the roadway," Foster said earlier today.
The Santa Fe County fatal crash team is investigating the cause of this fatal accident.
Foster explained that because the head-on collision occurred within the Santa Fe County line, the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office has taken over the case. The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office has not yet released the names of the people involved.
